Assam Meghalaya Tour

Meghalaya, also referred to as the “abode of clouds”, is one of the most preferred destinations nowadays for someone who wants some change from the boring hustle bustle city life. Its home to some of the most fascinating waterfalls, mysterious caves, amazing wildlife, along with a diverse flora and fauna and off-course a unique tribal culture.

This Package offered by Sahapathika offers two of the most delightful destinations in the state – Shillong and Cherrapunjee. While Shillong, the capital of the state, is a hub of cultural activity, Cherrapunjee wins hearts by its wonderful waterfalls and fascinating caves.

DAY 1

Arrival at Guwahati
Meet and Greet by a Sahapathika representative once you arrive in Guwahati, who will assist you with transfer to the hotel. After the check-in formalities, you will be taken for a city tour. First in the list comes Maa -Kamakshya Temple, one of the 51 Shakti Peetham. Later explore Old Guwahati, which provides you beautiful views of the Brahmaputra River along a well-maintained promenade. You can go for a sunset river cruise in the mighty Brahmaputra River. For shopping, head to Fancy Bazaar, and after you are done, head to the Guwahati Planetarium for some wonderful shows on the universe.

DAY 2

Guwahati – Shillong (100 km, 3 hrs)
Today morning after a wonderful breakfast, we proceed towards Shillong. After arrival, check into the hotel. After some rest head to Lewduh, also known as Barabazar, which is also the oldest and largest traditional market centers in Northeast Asia. Most of the business is conducted here by women from the local villages. Khyndailad, also known as Police Bazar, is another place worth visiting. Here, a number of hotels, multi-cuisine restaurants and shops cater to every need and requirement of the customer.
Stay overnight.

DAY 3

Shillong
Today after a wonderful breakfast we shall proceed for Local sightseeing. First we visit the Ward Lake, also known as Pollock’s Lake which is a beautiful manmade lake named after Sir William followed by a Visit to the Cathedral Catholic Church and Capt. Williamson Sangma State Museum, which provides valuable insights into the lifestyle of the local people. Then, proceed to Shillong Peak, which, besides offering magnificent views of the countryside, is also the highest point in the state. For shopping, head to the emporiums.

DAY 4

Shillong – Cherapunjee – Shillong
After breakfast, move from Shillong to Cherrapunjee, the place of roaring waterfalls. Once there, explore the waterfalls, caves and other renowned attractions. Visit the Mawsmai Cave, famous for the stalactites and stalagmite caves which have innumerable forms, shapes and sizes. Then, hold your breath as you come across the majestic beauty of the Nohkalikai Falls, the highest waterfall in India at 1,115ft. Visit the other famous caves like The Lawshynna Cave and Mawmluh Cave, the longest in the Indian subcontinent. Check out the other waterfalls like Noh-Sngithiang Falls, Kynrem Falls and Elephant Falls. In the evening, make your way back to Shillong.

DAY 5

Shillong – Umiam Lake – Guwahati
After a wonderful breakfast in the morning, make your way towards Umiam Lake, the biggest artificial lake in the state. Enveloped by coniferous forests it’s the perfect place for someone looking for tranquility and solitude. Try your hand at fishing, or enjoy a picnic by its shores. Some of the other means of entertainment available here are boat riding, kayaking and angling. Enjoy your lunch, and make your way back to Guwahati. Check-in at the hotel on arrival.

DAY 6

Guwahati Departure
After enjoying a delightful breakfast in the morning you shall be assisted by a SahaPathika representative who will drop you back. Your tour ends with a Happy note with Sahapathika.
